PICC Line in the Neck!!!

Sometimes the right foot NEVER seems to know what the left foot is doing here in the hospital. After a series of ball-dropping, x-ray delaying and boondoggling, I'm now stuck with a PICC line that can't be used. So now I have a new IV and must wait until Monday to get this PICC line fixed. Oh what a beautiful day!!!!

Any "nice" hospital stories for me???

Oh man! That is crazy. I hope everything gets taken care of as soon as possible for you! I think one of my scariest moments was watching Mike get a PICC line in... I had no idea that they could move like that!
Actually - yes! (Who doesn't have a pain-in-the-neck hospital story?) One in particular will always stand out, though - the morning I received the call for my transplant, I rushed to the hospital to get the pre-surgery antibiotics started. I had just had PICC removed the week before, so I was surprisingly IV line free that morning. The nurses tried, one after the other, to get a peripheral line started in my arm and were unable to hit the vein, even after calling in one of their resident "experts." And, of course, I was a little ready to get the show started. It was one of the more nervous moments in my extensive hospital repertoire. However, after an hour's worth of trying, they finally got good drawback on a vein in the underside, and very tender, part of my forearm. Sheesh - and whew. Keep up the good work and positive 'tude, Ronnie!
LOL "like talking to a brick wall," I completely understand your frustration. My last admission reminded me that there is rarely an event-free day in the hospital. One temp. nurse actually argued with me for 20 minutes about the pills he was giving me aka the WRONG pills. (He gave me small yellow pills which were obviously vitamin K... and I was supposed to get prednisone...). I've been taking prednisone for 12 years... think I'd know the difference. Sure enough the next morning they couldn't find my vitamin k...
ooo my gosh. picc line in the neck. i wish i never watched this! i did not know that was even really possible. I just haa picc line in for the last seven months. got it pulled two weeks ago.I would have been freakin if i had of learned that that was possible when i had the line in. Ronnie you are a brave sou! keep up the good work on walking challenge! and i hope that picc line comes out of your neck soon!
Wow, Picc line in your neck? That's crazy! I hope they can get it out and get a new one in soon....yikes, I've never heard of that!
I'm trying to pick a good hospital story....hm....so many to choose from :). I'll choose one that goes with the IV theme :). There was one time where I was in the ICU after sinus surgery and they had to change my port needle (I have a portocath) and none of the nurses on that floor knew how to do it! I was shocked, but I guess the ICU nurses on that floor rarely do ports? So anyways- what did we end up doing? My awesome MOM accessed my port with a new needle for me :). Much to the surprise of the nurses, my mom was teaching THEM how to do it!! Gotta love moms right? They always save the day :). Thats a good story for ya!
Hope that Picc situation gets working soon!
One time, I went into the hospital through the ER (pneumonia) and because of the craziness, my antibiotic was late by about 2 hours (this was post sinus surgery). If that wasn't bad enough, the nurse bringing my albuterol and pulmozyme came at midnight with the Vest and my mom, who was in hysterics by this point, nearly ripped the woman's head off when she apologized for being so late and said "we can just do this tomorrow and skip tonight so we don't have to bother her." SERIOUSLY?! SKIP in the HOSPITAL?! So I did the Vest around 12:30 that morning. It didn't help that they were rude to her because it was the first time I had not been on the children's floor and told her smugly that "change is hard, isn't it?...." when she was asking why it was taking so long to get me my antibiotics. UGH!
