Glad to hear they got your wife's contractions to settle. I am a certified labor assistant, and the number one reason for women to go into preterm labor is dehydration and UTI . Tell Mandy to up her liquid intake by double, and to up her protien level. Nuts, legumes, beans, meat ,and eggs. I have some great webpages I could send you it she wants ideas on food with high protien, and I can not stress enough about doubling liquid intake. Keeps you hydrated, and flushes the toxins from your body....kidneys and liver...prevent UTI's. Baby would be fine if born now, but I think everyone would like that little peanut to do some more hanging out in mommies womb for a while! Stay healthy, hoping you both feel better....

Thanks soo soo much for your tips. I have upped my water the last couple days. I was always drinking around 120 fl oz a day, but have tried to double it (managed 250 fl oz yesterday, but don't think I can keep that up!) Think 200 fl oz. is enough? Also, I'd love to see a list of foods high in protein. I have been trying to really pound the protein this who pregnancy, but with my stomach getting smaller, knowing that has the biggest bang for littlest volume would be helpful. Also, any thoughts on how long I can hang at 1cm dilated and 50% effaced? Is it likely to make it to at least 37 weeks? Am I likely to go before 40? Have a doc's appointment on Friday and will ask all the same questions, but just curious if you have any thoughts in the meantime.
Mandi, that is a lot of water! While you can probably filter that much water through you. I thik you are supposed to stay under your weight in ounces and drink throughout the day to avoid water toxicity. And now I sound crazy. But it is real!!
I thought so too, but they told me to drink between 1-2 gallons...128-256 fl. oz. Seems totally crazy but maybe because it's so hot here and dehydration is a leading cause of preterm labor. I'm going to turn into a fish by the end of this!
You could just jack a couple of IV's from the hospital. I'm sure Ronnie by now has seen enough IV's inserted he could probably run a drip on you piece of cake (saline of course). ;)
Why didn't I think of that?? ;-)
WHOOPS that was supposed to say "I have been trying to really pound the protein this WHOLE pregnancy" :)
Happy to hear that Mandi and Peanut are still truckin along. Hang in there you guys. The "real" labor will be sooner than you know! SO EXCITED for you!
Anyway, I hope that your visit to "the hole" clears you up. You'll be home soon and then you will be ready for daddyhood with new vigor and health! We'll definitely be keeping the 3 of you in our prayers!
I'm so glad all is well for all three of you!

Video blog is awesome, Ronnie. Having just gotten outta the hole myself...experienced the hoarseness. My nurse suggested it might be thrush in my throat, so I upped the probiotic drinks and used Nistatin which did help some. Keep taking excellent care of yourselves! Your example does help the rest of us (even us old CFers) make those hard decisions to do the things we don't want to do but need to do.
