I Got Hit by a Truck

Day 2: So before you panic, I actually didn't get hit by a truck, but it sure feels like I did. I like to call it the old "antibiotic blues".

Now join me in the (Hospital) Run/Walk Challenge! BTW, does anybody have a more clever name for that? The ____ ____ _____ Challenge! Ideas???

The hospital videos are back! and I think the challenge is a great way to push yourself safely and provide motive for getting out of the hospital!

I know what you mean by the truck comment. I hope it finishes rolling over you soon so you can start to feel human again.
I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I didn't know IVs made you feel so bad. I've only ever been on the oral ones and they just made me better. But I'm dreading having to go in even more now lol

I think it gets worse the more you're on them, so you'll probably have no troubles :)
Totally know the feeling of the 'antibiotic blues'! I feel to too, that truck totally hits quick as soon as those meds are plugged in. Such a crazy feeling huh? I've definitely felt it, but the good part is- we know that its all for a good purpose :). After the meds are said and done like you said, its all about enjoying the life you live outside the hospital!
Rock on, Ronnie. Love the videos and the update!!

ps. I'm going to try and meet the challenge :). I'm usually a swimmer and a surfer but have been wanting to walk and run more....so this is going to be my push to do it! :)

I like it!!! If you swim and surf you'll have NO PROBLEM keeping up :)
As a parent of a small child with CF, it is my hope that she grows up with your positive outlook on life. I want her to be as determined, motivational, inspiring, and happy as you are. I read your post about your mother, and I hope I can do just as good a job.
My husband has a LIfe is Good shirt that says "Half FULL" and has a picture of a glass on it. I think you should pick one up for yourself, or better yet, put it on your Christmas list. It suits you perfectly=)

She'll grow up to reflect your attitude on CF and it sounds like you and your husband have a good one. Keep up the good work!
Distance to Discharge challenge? Running with Ronnie? The "Sharp"er Image challenge? Legs for Lungs? Or my personal fave: "The Inpatient "In Patient" Get-Healthier-Sooner Challenge."

Whoops, I meant "Sharpe"-er Image Challenge, obviously. I'm not as clever late at night while waiting for my infusions to finish ;) Anyway, whatever you call it, I'm in.
I love that last one Piper!!!!! It's a mouthful, but I love it!!!
I was feeling the anti-biotic blues last week too 4 antibiotics really knock me on my butt! I was telling my friend over lunch that I get fevers, aches, tired, and nausea when I'm on all these antibiotics, and he said "Wait isn't this supposed to make you feel BETTER?!" at least we can see the light at the end of the tunnel and we will be feeling better at the end of it all!
duder. i'm trying to watch your vid and my internet is all messed up. I'm sorry you're feelin' down but I know you will rise up against the blues. Try to take a nap, seriously. I know you hate to nap. But a short nap in the middle of the day when I'm on that many meds, usually peps my later afternooon/evening right up for better airway clearance, or exercise, or both (wherever you're at!). ?? FEEL BETTER, RSBR!!

Love, CG Beth
PS. Ask them if they've checked your electrolytes (though they probably have with your history of dehydration). You might need some sodium, mag or potassium. That might be why you feel sluggish. Most IVs zap those electrolytes right out of you. Bring on the Gatorade. This last month in the hospital I was on 3 electrolyte IVs a day. It stunk- I was hooked up like 9am to 1pm every day just to get 2 doses of antibiotic and all those electrolytes!!
Hey Ronnie love your page. Get well. i thought I would throw this question out there. I am 45 cfr and have rheumitoid arthritis so they say. Have you heard of this in any cfers? let me know I am curious as to how they should treat me.

Yes, CF related arthritis is a known in the CF community. It's often times related to infections and you can generally relieve some of the symptoms by treating the infection. I have had a couple of crazy flair ups myself but they generally last only a couple of days. Have you posted this question on CysticLife.org??
