You guys are the cutest.. Love the IV story.. .I had once a "new nurse" that had never seen such poor veins and was DETERMINED to get the IV in... and did not work up the arm but down.. so we had that lesson.. Ah.. the things we experience...
Thinking of you guys... Praying for 2 weeks or whatever the larger plan is for your lungs... So excited that the wedding is nearing..
Who was it that tried putting an IV in? My last hospital stay was about a month from Feb. 22 to March 30 cuz I had gotten really sick that pretty much I was breathe with one lung that's how bad I had gotten!!! I am doing better now, but now that it happened my lung functions r down really low which sucks!!! Well hope u get better and get out of there soon for ur wedding!
you know what i love the most...and maybe it's just me...but because the camera is so close to your head Ronnie I can see your ears move in sync when you talk...soo funny!!! ;) Cute video as always... and woo hoo for some dunkin donut action! now quit reading this and get your booty outta bed....ya gotta get outta there!
Praying for you brother to get out fairly quickly! I love you and Mandi you guys totally remind me of me and my husband. Love the zit popping!!! What is our obsession with picking at things? It's just so fun! Hoping today is a GREAT day!
I am always shocked when you go in for a 'clean out' that they keep you 30 days regularly!!!! I honestly had NEVER been in that long other than post transplant. Anyway. . .. I guess every doctor has different protocol, I would have gone nuts if I had to stay that long. 2 weeks was the max I ever stayed. What if when you get sick, are they going to keep you for 3 months? :) Get better~ hopefully they release you in 2-3 weeks.
Our Great Strides walk is on May 22nd. I will be running at this walk for the first time! Taking care of 3 girls with CF has not been easy. I've realized that my health has to be important too. I've been working out like crazy since January and my goal was to RUN the 3 mile at our walk. I've lost 22lbs. and tons of inches! If I can take care of my 4 girls and kick my butt working out, you can keep up the exercise too. :) I will be think of you guys that day. Congratulations and I hope you can kick butt in the next 2 weeks.

That is SO AWESOME Allison! Being a good role model for your kids is very important. As they grow older, they're going to want to exercise just like mommy!!!
OK was she picking your zit when the camera started? If so, rock on, I do the same thing to my husband! If not, then ummmm I was just kidding! I feel your pain on the IV thing - though I've never had a nurse appear stoned, I've had plenty who completely stress out when they have to put an IV in me.

Question - why don't you go home and finish up your IV antis after a week or so in the hospital? It is SO much nicer to be at home and I find that I do better b/c I get better sleep and eat better and am happier. Just a thought.....

Get better soon!

She's a BIG zit popper :) Also, I answered your question in tomorrow's video :)
My question is WHY don't you get a port!? I've had one since 1994 and it has saved my life, or at least my sanity! I had the first one for almost 15 years, flushing it once a month when I was not in the hole. It's reallly, really easy and a LOT more comfortable than the picc's. I had my share of those, but after awhile, they leave a lot of scar tissue and make your veins thrombosed. You can even draw blood from the Port a cath, that is fed directly to your heart, under the skin and all, but the surgeon that gave me my first one told me that if I wanted to keep it a LONG time, which I don't know but I think I hold some sort of record, NOT to take blood from it if you don't have to. The bladder is like a rubber band and the more you push and pull it the shorter the life of it....and he KNEW that what I needed it for was just IV antibiotics to GO IN! So, in one simple surgery, you can have a port that is relatively low profile, easy to care for (my hubby accesses it for me with monthly flushings and when it's time to come in, he just puts it in and I hep-lock it!) Mandi could do it... even though it took a little confidence and practice. He was afraid of hurting me so he literally was shaking the first couple of times. So.. that is my question! If it's too personal, you don't have to answer.

My best answer?? Probably because I'm stubborn. I've had over 30+ PICCs and I figure if it ain't broke then don't fix it. I know at some point a port will come, but I'm just not ready for that day to be today :)
Understood! Just know that once you have it you will wish you did it a long time ago... same thing with gall bladder removal.. ouch... everyone kept telling me to just get it out. Once I did, life's been so much better and that was over 7 years ago. XO Cheers to healing... sending good vibes your way. I'm on day 12... looking forward to OUTTA Here!
