Flash Me Friday - Outdoor Space

This week's addition of Flash Me Friday call for pictures of our outdoor space. The backyard and outdoor space was actually the determining factor when Mandi and I purchased the house. We knew the neighborhood that we wanted to live in, but we were disappointed with the backyards in many of the properties. Just when we thought the "perfect" house wouldn't come available until after we were married, this one showed up on the listings...

Outdoor fireplace which is perfect for making Smores!! Also, it's a perfect holder for that dead plant I planted a couple of months back :)

The old owners actually built on the arbor which definitely comes in handy on hot summer days!

My two girls playing around :)

Look right into the garden...

...and look left into a lawn that requires mowing :)

Love it! Especially that outdoor fireplace, how cool is that!
Every week I love your house more and more...Such beautiful decor and style.
So gorgeous and relaxing looking!
I have a question, dunno if you will have an answer lol. But ive noticed with any home down in the USA they always have cement brick walls between the neighbours. Up here in Canada we just use a wooden fence or chain link. My question is why the Cement walls?

Crime? No, I'm kidding. It totally depends on where in the US you're living and when the house was built.

Colorado is filled with wooden fences..
Nice yard!
ahhh I see anyways its a beautiful yard!
re: Sean's question, much of the southwestern US has block walls rather than wood because it is easier maintenance in the desert or near desert climates. Phoenix heat takes quite a toll on wooden fences, furniture and decks, so it is not practical. But wood fences are more common in our cooler regions.

BTW, love the fireplace. I think that is very similar to what we're going to put in. :)
